Mono-No Aware – Japanese ephemeral beauty


Mono-no aware: the ephemeral nature of beauty – the quietly elated, bittersweet feeling of having been witness to the dazzling circus of life – knowing that none of it can last.

During my first trip to Japan happened during summer 2019, I felt blessed about the beauty of the people, their dresses, shinto temples and much more. The Japanese expression “Mono-No Aware” reflects very well the duality being both saddened and appreciative of transience.
